Chorale and Toccata was commissioned by the North Carolina Symphony. The premiere performances, conducted by Gerhardt Zimmermann, were held on March 1 and 2, 1991 at Memorial Auditorium, Raleigh, NC.
The recording of Chorale and Toccata for String Orchestra,performed by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, has been released by MMC Recordings (MMC2009).
